What is Paralaxita Entomology?

Founded in July 2020, Paralaxita Entomology is a home-grown and open-source passion project to study, research, preserve, and educate about nature throughout my adventures, with a focus on entomology, the study of insects. Studying insects and their relatives, which are often overlooked by citizens and science alike, is very important in the greater understanding and awareness of ecology. As living organisms, we are a part of nature and the journey awaits you. Everyone is welcome! Paralaxita Entomology gets its name from the Riodinidid butterfly genus, Paralaxita.

The project is based in the Wellington district in the province of Ontario, Canada. Most of the site's focus is on this region, however, my observations and research from my travels to different cities, provinces, and countries are also important assets and are prominently hightlighted as well.

Everything that makes the site, from the server, the code, the photographs, to the graphics, are all programmed, designed, and published by myself in my spare time. Updates to the site aren't always frequent due to my job taking up lots of my time, so patience is key in projects like this!

Being an open-source project, Paralaxita Entomology follows several principles regarding personal (and financial) freedom and transparency. The project is not-for-profit and advocates for freedom of information and will always be free. To uphold these beliefs in practice, the site also relies on many other technologies and projects that are open-source and libre.

This site will always be free from adverts, cookies, trackers, or telemetry of any kind.
