Description and History

This practical 125cc motor scooter is my daily-driver vehicle, even in the winter! With it, I commute to work, go to appointments, go to family and friends, go shopping, and more, both in an out of town. It's a dual-sport motorbike, meaning it's also designed for riding on gravel trails, grass, and dirt. In addition, its nimble handling, small size, and ample storage room makes it the ideal vehicle to load up with photography equipment, entomological tools, field guides, my shortwave radio and laptop, spare tools, first aid kits, as well as water and snacks, and head down trails deep into the heart of forests and marshes! Not to mention how fun and easy it makes navigating city traffic and parking.

Despite the small engine displacment, it can still comfortably cruise for miles at ~95 km/h, maxing out around 110 km/h. I don't need to go any faster. To me, motorcycling is a passion, but also a form of reliable transporation rain or shine. I purchased this motorbike in full brand new in April 2024 before it had even shipped overseas from the Taiwanese factory. I love it dearly, and it was quite an accomplishment and a personal award for getting through a personally very difficult 2023.

Description and History

My Sonic has been a part of my life since it was bought brand new in March 2014. Originally it belonged to my father, and he gave it to me in 2020. It has a manual transmission, something becoming exceedingly rare to find in cars in Canada and the US. It was the car I learnt to drive in, and it holds hundreds of memories from the many journies it had taken me and my father on. Since then, I can't thank it enough for everything it's helped me get through as well. Today in its old age, it's only driven when it is absouletly needed, such as moving large and heavy items like furniture or appliances, travelling with more than one passenger (or one which does not have their own motorcycle gear), going on excessively long trips, or in particularily harsh days of Canadian winters that result in the roads becoming buried in snow. Of course, taking it out for long aimless drives at night is also something that I love to do!

This car has also had its fair share of ecological adventures with me. Since it comes along on long trips, it has allowed me to explore nature in cities, towns, and counties I rarely get to visit. The Sonic has also been exceptionally reliable. It took eight straight years just for a headlight bulb to burn out! I'll be there for it up until the day its 4-cylinder heart finally gives out. There is a Sonic the Hedgehog decal stuck onto the passenger-side C-pillar window, which has been there since day one as a subtle pun to anyone who notices the model and colour of the car. :)
